VIBURNUM FLOWER


Viburnum flower is defined as a versatile evergreen flowering shrub plant and has a characteristic fragrance in addition, they are used for borders and edges which makes it good for gardening and landscaping purposes in various places like at homes, offices and a long side roads.This kind of flower blooms well during spring season and it is many are either with white or pink blooms during this period.

 The larger varieties  of viburnum  plantings makes exceptional focal point as specimen for these plantings.


Types of viburnums 
  •    One of the well known type is the old-fashioned snowball viburnum(v.opulus) with beautiful white snowball shaped blooms.
  • The third type is called the tea viburnum which is a deciduous plant which exhibit blue-green foliage.
  •    Another type is called Alleghany viburnum which dark Green which occasionally turns purple during fall and it remains throughout winter. 



 Planting

Care must be taken when planting this type of plant. There are some preparations that should be taken into consideration before planting this plant What needs to be done first before the actual plantation is as follows:
  • A side with fertile soils with sufficient nutrients to supply the plant throughout its growth period should be carefully chosen.

  • The side should be exposed to light since just few viburnum plants are adapted to shade while many will of course tolerate partial shade.

  • The garden should have a proper plan for drainage system to drain excess water which may the plant during its growth period.
 The best period to grow this plant is during spring or fall. During planting, pay attention to each individual needs of the species. You begin by digging a deep hall and at least two to three times wider to accommodate the root. Then back-fill the all with some soil and add water to the hole. Then plant the root of the plant before filling the hole with the rest of the soil.  When planting more than one viburnums, make sure that they are spaced more than 5 feet apart depending on their sizes during maturity.

How to care viburnums 

During dry seasons, viburnum plants must be taken care by adding mulch within their roots to make sure that their moisture is retained during these dry seasons. Also pruning this plant is an important factor to be considered for shaping purposes and also removing diseased, dead or broken branches.
